A fantastic fantasy adventure

Mind of the Phoenix was a very intriguing read. There are so many things about this story that I loved. The main character, Moira, is snarky with quick wit. Right from the start she is all about self-preservation, even after resigning herself to her fate, and I found that trait to be essential to how the story plays out. She learns and grows with the story as well, owed in part to Detective Keenan. Keenan seems like the type of honest guy that genuinely attempts to help every person no matter their station. The character pool did not leave me wanting.

The world is rather interesting as well. While I think there could be more development (and hence the reason this is not a five star review), I do enjoy the ties to period accuracy. I caught myself thinking that this was not a fantasy book at times because of the way the author describes the time. I hope to see greater location development in the next part of the series, which I can't wait to read.

Overall, I'd recommend this to friends to read! Anyone who likes fantasy can find a satisfying read in "Mind of the Phoenix"!

Thank you to the author and Novel Reviewers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
