I hate that it took me so long to read this. In Her Closet was such a surprise.
While I didn't like the heroine I understood her actions and motivations. I really wished I could've read more about the hottie at the beginning of the story, learning more about him would've been a TREAT.
Elijah was such a solid character and the perfect partner for Yves, he was always sure of himself and what he wanted. Usually, I'm interested in the background of a character, it helps me find a deeper connection to the character than just their action but in the case of Elijah I loved everything he said and did and didn't need a back story.
While I liked the tension and action in this book I would have liked for Yves to recover more before she engaged in the BDSM lifestyle with Elijah. Between the situation with her ex and the quickness of her first time with Elijah it felt like her ex's assumption that she needs the fight, the violence to really enjoy sex - her one-night stands are exempt because she treated them like they were tissues - was actually right which made me uncomfortable. She was still wearing bruises from her last run-in with her ex and she pretty much tells Elijah that it'll be okay if he wants to put his marks on her. I know that can be an aspect of a BDSM relationship but it shouldn't have been done in this context.
Despite my voiced concerns In Her Closet was entertaining. Like I said, I hate that it took me so long to read it, it was a quick and slightly heart-breaking read.
