I love this book with all my kinky heart. Master’s Flame is BEST of written BDSM. Master’s Flame is THE BEST of BDSM of 2014 and an ALL TIME FAVORITE for me.

I often want to understand the bottoms/subs in the BDSM stories, but when I find I identify with the wild ones, it takes my breath away. I was cheering for Valentina this entire journey, I was cheering for La Maitre to get his fill, so here is how it went for me and I will quote only parts of the first 30%. The rest will stay with me and those who chose to read this book:

page 10: “He didn’t just love sex; he needed it to live, to breathe.”
I like this man already.

page 11: “He found himself wanting to tuck the delectable creature into a cage so he might fuck and torment her whenever he wished.”
I love this man now.

Page 11: “Too young, too fresh, and certainly too undisciplined to satisfy his exacting tastes.”
here I know several things: 1. He requires absolute obedience 2. He will enjoy disciplining her. 3. I will weep when the discipline is over for I will want more.

Page 12: “He was in his mid-40’s, seasoned, elegant and handsome, the type of man who commended attention and knew what he was about.”
eyes roll in the back of my head * ooooohhhhh my reading fantasy man.

Page 13: “…intensely dominant.”
when Joseph makes such statements, I get super excited about whats to come.

Page 17: “I do have a bit of a condition. I am too…enthusiastic. Too impulsive and passionate, not just with sex, but everything.”
here I somewhat recognize this personality type.

Page 31: “His whip hand probably ached too.”
so I will get SM in this book.

Page 32: “She exhaust me. I don't know how you cope with her day in and day out.”
Oh God, is this how my DH feels? lol

Page 33: “…you think she’d want the kind of control I like to exert?”
“No. Although, I think she needs it.”
I agree. She needs that. Oh yes! Can’t wait! 
Page 36: “His St. Petersburg boys were there, fine, blond, strong Russian submissives waiting to be beckoned.”
*oh dear Kinks. *swoon*

Page 36: “Does it come easily to you? Submission?”
no comment. Don't ask that. =P

Page 38: She: “I’d enjoy being overpowered if someone could actually do it.”
“I want pain and surrender. I want to be subdued, pushed to my limits. Forced to obey.”

He: “Do you?”
here several things become clear to me: She has no clue what she is saying, what submission is and MOST importability what its like for someone like her, wild and undisciplined, to be placed in a care of a Sadist who requires absolute obedience. I could picture her with a Daddy Dom though. lol If I were her mentor I would say: “Girl listen up! There is no “I want” with this Dominant and BTW “this is not going to be all fun and games”. I quote this last part because someone did say that to me. I did not get it back than. OH but this journey will be so much fun for me to read about!

Page 41: “They get pleasure from suffering, and from pleasing me.”
here he is trying to explain how it works for him.

Page 42: “I see the concept of obedience escapes you.”
*here is where he sees she isn’t getting it. lol

Page 46: “I don’t want…, I want…”
here she is having a meltdown and little does she know he is not into drama. She is an attention whore and a risk. Big man this Dominant to take her on. But I still love this girl for she means well.

Page 62: “She hated when she got this way, when she did dangerous, impulsive things because she didn’t have a name for the emotions inside her, or any way to control them as they swarmed in her brain.”
she is looking for an outlet, a controlled environment to express her feels and she does this by staging a risky play for a newcomer who doesn’t have a clue. *Mistik goes for the cattle prod. *Zap.Zap.* Girl, you make me crazy. *Zap.*

Page 65/66: The following partial dialogue is a favorite of mine. Like, EVER!!! and if one is thinking about getting into the lifestyle, one should read on even if its just fictional BDSM:

He: “You haven’t the first idea about submission. You want a thrill, an experience. You want me to fuck you until you get your rocks off. You want the adrenaline rush.”
He: “What will you offer that need? What will I get from out of this possession, besides a recurring headache?”
*She is dumbfound here for she hasn’t a clue*
“Ah, but you see, my dear that’s the rub,” he said quietly. “I’m not a service top. I like slaves for my pleasure, not theirs. I have less than no interest in your needs, Valentina, except as they intersect with what I desire.”
“I think you are a selfish hedonist who wants what she wants,” he said. “That’s not slavery, you know. It isn’t even power exchange. Its topping from the bottom and I don’t tolerate it in those I ‘possess.’”

She: “Anything, I swear.” *Mistik gapes* OMG! here we have a great example of an inexperienced submissive (or an experienced hard core slave which is not the case here). Never say never but never say “anything” to a Sadist and for fuck’s sake Valentina: do not volunteer information on what you do not like to a Sadist unless you are specifically asked for honesty. I can not impart of a greater wisdom here girl! lol

He: “If that’s how you feel,” he said, “then I want a no-limits arrangement. Complete and utter ownership, no holds barred. No negotiations, no contracts, no release clauses.”
* here he is pushing to see if she will set limits. It would be smart for her to negotiate! but she still doesn’t get it and so the Sadist is all in, his dark heart doing cart wheels. He does in fact tell her what the arrangement entails and what is expected of her further down the road, however, it flies in one ear and out the other. Ok, boy I am gonna love this! is what I was thinking.

Sigh. It has just occurred to me I do not know the hero’s name. I referred to him as Master in this book, so now I clearly see why I enjoyed it as much as I did.

All went well with Valentina and she was very excited about the arrangement until he fked her in the ass and it hurt. A lot.
Page 72: “This wasn’t the fucking she wanted, or the masterly she wanted. This wasn’t pleasure.”
AHA!!! I TOLD YOU, you ignorant cow! Now deal with it and I am gonna love every minute of it!

…and you know what? I did love all of their monthly arrangement, how he enjoyed disciplining her and how he came about molding her to what he needed in a slave. It is a pleasure to read the darker, edgier play and horrible, hurtful things this Master does. With these wild characters, such as Valentina, wouldn't it be a shame to break their spirit? And how does one sub for someone as harsh as her Master and not lose the flame? He needs that flame and he needs the slavery but where and how do they balance each other? Really good stuff and made me think about it days after I read it.

If this were a short review I’d say:
Valentina is an energetic stage performer, a flame who needs to be tamed and she is searching for balance, yet, she doesn’t know what she is searching for until the very end of the book when the balance is struck. Its important to note she was searching for someone to fix her and I think only because she did not know its not fixing her; its the need for servitude which drove her to her Master.
Mr. Michel Lamaitre aka. Master is a man of absolute control who likes the girl he sees but he is not thrilled with the effort he will need to put out in her training, though once committed, he gives all of himself to training this girl. He is also a Master who does not count. I know some readers will note this not counting during SM and it can be a really tough experience for bottoms who are not into pain (or maybe even to those who are into pain but I wouldn’t know) because desperation sets in and you never know when its going to be over. You want it to be over but not really. It fucks with your head. =D
The plot is entirely in the romance, the TPE and the lifestyle journey showing, at one point, the consequences of signing up for such a dynamic and the powers of negotiation and why many have at least some sort of a limit clause. The ending is sweet and even though I am no longer a reader who needs an HEA, I was happy with the end game. Must have been the cage thing. =D

At the end of every single one of my BDSM reads and before I review I ask myself: 1. Can I sub for this MC? 2. Is this worth writing to my DH about? The answer to the first question is: Yes, with limits and not for a long time. Maybe only few hours a day. =D and to the second is: I already did. This review is about 1900 words and its the longest, most honest BDSM review I’ve written, though I did try hard to leash my own freak =D. Control self, control =D lol

Overall, I read Master’s Flame as a story about a Dominant male who took great Sadistic pleasures in training his slave and about a wild, lost girl who draws her balance from servitude. Master’s Flame is BDSM heavy with SM, humiliation and an awesome display of the M/s dynamic. It was a very powerful book for me personally and I’ll never forget it. Highly recommend for lovers of TPE BDSM.
